After 5 days or racing in tough conditions, Brad Gibson has been crowned the 2016 M class World Champion here in Limone del Garda.
The result for Brad makes this 3 in a row, a feat only bettered by fellow GBR skipper Graham Bantock who despite a late charge, just fell short of runner up, with that honour going to Italian Matteo Longhi.
This years event was to again prove the level of quality skippers we have in GBR with no less than ten skippers within the top 20 places in this strong 76 boat fleet. Of those to also shine were Darin Ballington in 5th place in only his second international event, Chris Harris who was a measure of consistency and smart sailing for a solid 6th and Robert Walsh with a respectable 8th place.
Across the board there were other fine performances by our skippers with the odd one to forget thrown in (names withheld). Skippers to show good form over the week were Peter Stollery, Martin Roberts, Derek Priestley, John Shorrock, James and Tony Edwards, Roy Stevens, John Cleave and Richard Uttley.
Of the rest some may have hoped for a little more but all across the board have enjoyed the experience and will be back for more in Germany 2018 (tbc).
We aim to bring you a full wrap up in the coming weeks on return and hope you have enjoyed following our efforts out here.
Good luck to our skippers today starting the 10rater class Worlds at the same venue.
